A Gift for You

As you may have noticed, I love vintage graphics, especially from children's books and magazines. I found this wonderful vintage calendar project in the January 1954 edition of Children's Activities magazine.

Not only are the pictures for each month charming, but the dates from 1954 fall on the same days of the week for 2010 . So you can actually use this for 2010 and give this calendar and charming graphics a new life.

I plan to color mine in with colored pencils and hang this in my craft room. This would also be a sweet gift to tuck in a stocking!

Merry and Bright

I love Christmas and all the wonderful decorations, lights and smells of holiday cooking! We just returned from a wonderful week in Indiana and Chicago, Illinois seeing all my family for Thanksgiving. In Chicago they had just lite all the Christmas lights and Macy's (formerly Marshall Fields) was all decorated, complete with its magical Christmas windows. Musicians from the Salvation Army played Christmas carols and the wonderful German Christmas market had just opened! So merry, so bright, we were all soon in the holiday mood.

Then, once home, the most wonderful package was waiting for me, from Elizabeth at Creative Breathing.

What treasures! A beautiful felt heart inside a charming bell jar, topped with a lovingly crafted bird. You should see the stitches, so fine, even and beautifully done. Then there is the wonderful peg doll so cheerful in her holiday dress and her wonderful yellow curls and adorable white puppy. But that was not all, she also included two wonderful vintage sitting elves!

The puppy even has his own little heart! Aren't the details fantastic? Little sparkling beads and snowflakes on her skirt as well!

I never thought of red and blue as Christmas colors till I meant Elizabeth on-line, and I must admit, I really love the combination!

So merry!
